Visionaries

Visionaries: Craft ACT 2019 members exhibition opens Wednesday 12 September and is on show to Saturday 26 October.

“Curated by Craft ACT, this is a showcase exhibition demonstrating the trends in contemporary craft and design in Australia by accredited practitioners from the ACT and surrounding region.

Every year, Craft ACT defines a theme for the members exhibition which helps us to communicate the importance of contemporary craft, and appeals to audiences, collectors and media. Based on the DESIGN Canberra theme of utopia, this year’s exhibition will be titled Visionaries: Craft ACT 2019 members exhibition.”

My new work A shift in perspective will be part of this great exhibition of local artists, makers and designers.

This work is a sequence of three framed glass panels, shifting between two tones of greens. Playing with the materiality of glass and cold worked surface finishes, continues my investigation undermining the dominant nature of glass as a hard, inflexible aspect of our built environment, portraying it instead as a tactile and yielding material (in this instance like a painting?).

To hear more about the work, I will be part of an artist talk Saturday 12 October, 1.00pm - 1.45pm.

Hosted by Craft ACT Accredited Professional Member Janet DeBoos and will include:
Fran Romano, Moraig McKenna, Lia Tajcnar, Tania Vrancic, Andres Cayedo, Debra Jurss, John White, Jennifer Kemarre Martiniello and Louis Grant.
